Breakfast Places that Open Early

Are you an early riser constantly in search of breakfast places that open early? My kids wake up at 6am and we find ourselves often in need of breakfast as early as 7am. I made this list for my own reference:

  1. Providore: Opens at 9am on weekends, 8am on weekdays. They don’t open early enough for our liking but is first on my list because I love the smashed avocado which is consistently good (at least at the Raffles City outlet). You can make reservations via Makan+ which gives you 100 miles per booking.
  2. Tiong Bahru Bakery: Love the Savoury Waffles and Croissants. While they open at 7.30am, the waffles are often not available until 8.15am.
  3. Merci Marcel: Opens at 8am. The ravioli is an all time favourite and am thankful they serve it in the morning. Head down even if you are unable to get a reservation because they always leave about 40% capacity for walk-ins. We like the Orchard outlet because if Merci Marcel is full, you can always head over to French Fold, their sister restaurant for crepes which is also a great option for breakfast.
  4. French Fold: Opens at 8am on Saturdays, 9am on Sundays.
  5. Rider’s Cafe: Opens at 8am. Reservations are necessary. The kids love looking at the horses.
  6. Wild Honey: Opens at 9am. We used to go a lot but not anymore. The seats at Mandarin Gallery outlet are very kid-friendly. Reservations are recommended.
  7. Joe & Dough: Opens as early as 7.30am. I don’t usually drink coffee but like the one they make.
  8. Tsui Wah: Opens at 8.30am. Many places to entertain the kids at Jewel after breakfast.
  9. Coffee Bean: There are several 24h outlets, one of which is at East Coast. Beanstro, the one at Marina Bay Sands opens at 8.30am. Lovely place for breakfast with a view if you are going to Arts Science Museum after (which opens at 10am) and for shopping. My favourite is the fish and chips.
  10. Starbucks: Opens at 7am. Consistent drinks with pre-prepped food. They are always at convenient, easy to find locations.
  11. Old Town White Coffee: Opens at 8am. We discovered this one when exploring new playgrounds at East Coast.
  12. Ya Kun: Opens as early as 7am depending on the outlet. Best place to have perfectly done half boiled eggs. The seats are not kid-friendly though.
  13. Fun Toast: Opens as early as 7am depending on the outlet. The seats are more kid-friendly compared to Ya Kun. I like their Laksa as it is not too spicy.
  14. Toast Box: Opens as early as 7.30am Another option if you are looking for something local. There is usually a Bread Talk nearby to buy bread.
  15. Hans: Opens as early as 7am depending on the outlet. I go for their Hor Fun.
  16. McDonald’s: The fall back option that is always available. We like the one at East Coast near the playground. It gets very crowded after 9am though.
  17. Supernova: Love the decor of this place. It’s wide and spacious. They open at 8am. I didn’t realise that they were part of the same group as Atlas and Columbus until they gave us a paper cup for our kids with the constellation, then it clicked. The food is as you expect from this group, very yummy.
  18. Neptune: Like it’s sister restaurant, it opens at 8am. However, it is located along East Coast road where parking is more difficult to find.
  19. Red Star Restaurant: It is the only air-conditioned Yum Cha restaurant I know opened at 8am. Love the traditional dim sum concept where they push the trolleys. Like typical Hong Kong style yum cha, don’t expect very friendly or speedy service. Located at 54 Chin Swee Road, #07-23.
  20. Common Man Coffee Roasters: The one at Sentosa Cove is really lovely. Even though it is outdoors, it is windy and generally cooling. Beautiful for a morning walk. It is open at 7.30am everyday!
  21. Maxi Coffee Bar: This tiny coffee bar packs a punch. Literally the only place we found open at 8am along Ann Siang Hill.

There are definitely more like Baker & Cook, Forty Hands, Carrotsticks & Cravings, Craftsman Coffee etc., but the above are the ones we frequent. Please do share in the comments below what are your favourite breakfast places (even if they are not kid friendly).
