Shopping for Kids’ Clothing

There is no doubt shopping is a passion of mine. I am in-charge of dressing my family and am always on a lookout for sales, especially for the little ones. I almost never pay full price. Here are my favourite sites for kidswear and my notes on them:

  1. Nickis: I feel their prices are slightly lower than other websites for all their brands, especially Ralph Lauren.
  2. Mytheresa: I wait for the sale on sale + free shipping (if I am lucky the promotions are within the same period).
  3. Childrensalon Outlet: I get brands like Burberry and Moschino. The downside is there is no free shipping.
  4. Farfetch: My favourite brand to buy is Emporio Armani when they have a 2 or 3 piece pack on sale.
  5. YOOX: Recommended for Dolce Gabbana, Burberry, Balmain, Givenchy and Balenciaga.
  6. Uniqlo: Great for staples. Value for money. Sign up for the Uniqlo membership which gives you $6 or $8 vouchers from time to time for online and retail purchases with minimum purchase.
  7. Zalora: For GAP and H&M clothes. Nike, New Balance and Adidas shoes.
  8. Other websites I have purchased from are BambiniFashion, Melijoe and AlexandAlexa.

Some tips:

  1. As these are online sites, I strongly recommend heading down to the retail stores to check out the sizes before buying. Otherwise, size up if you are unsure of the sizes as kids will eventually grow into them.
  2. If they are not on sale and you are not in a rush to buy, add the item to your wishlist first and wait for price drops.
  3. Look for promo codes that can be applied to the sale items. For example, an additional discount or free shipping.
  4. If there is free shipping, consider splitting the shipments if it is going to go above the taxable threshold. In Singapore, GST is payable for imports above $400. Note that from 1 January 2023 onwards, GST is payable on all imports regardless of the amount. See here for more information: https://www.iras.gov.sg/taxes/goods-services-tax-(gst)/consumers/gst-on-imported-low-value-goods.
  5. If you are petite like me, you may fit into sizes 12 and above. It is a great way to save hundreds of dollars on some brands. See my post here on how I do it.
